Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ Church

The church is located in the centre of Sosnowiec, near the Main Railway Station. It is the first church in the city centre whose building was fully financed by the railway station workers. It is also fully maintained by them. Owing to this and because of its location, it is called the „railway church”

The building was commissioned in 1862. In the beginning it functioned as a chaplain's church and later on as the Czeladź Parish branch church.

Along with the railway station, the church had presented an interesting complex of buildings until the Polish State Railways' data centre was built in its proximity. The building has a neo-gothic character, despite its quite simplistic acute-arched window and door closures.

The church is surrounded by a park, where you can also find a chapel, a stone sculpture of Jesus Christ made by Praszyński in 1912 and the Way of the Cross stations built in the fence.
