Saint John the Baptist Church

The church in Niwka is yet another example of implemented sacral projects by the architect Józef Pomian Pomianowski. It was built in the years 1894-1899 with funds raised from a voluntary taxation of the „Jerzy” mine workers in Niwka. This neo-gothic building with a three-aisle hall is built of brick. During the removal of mining damage, the most threatened part of the church, the main tower, was reconstructed. Unfortunately, lately the building has lost its original fence, which has been replaced with a new one, with clinker posts, referring to the general character of the church
