Schoen Palace and the Park

The former Schoen Palace building is today the seat of the District Court in Sosnowiec. It is situated in the central part of the city on the east side of the Czarna Przemsza River.
The palace was built at the end of the 19th century in the eclectic style on a plot of land bought by the Sosnowiec industrialists - the Schoen Family - in 1885 from the count Mortimer- Tschischky. The construction works on the Franz and Emma Schoen Palace were finished in 1903.

With its neo-gothic tower looming over the eclectic building, it is the only palace, which is located in the centre of Sosnowiec. A huge hall with a staircase, a ballroom, an old library and a large dinning room deserve special attention from among the palace interiors

The building was converted into the seat of the court in 1923, when it was leased from the Schoen family, probably because of the financial problems of its owners.
