Kazimierz Municipal Community Centre

The building of the present „Kazimierz” Municipal Community Centre was constructed in the middle of the 60s of the 20th century by the „Kazimierz-Juliusz” Hard Coal Mine. The institution had been operating under the auspices of the „Kazimierz-Juliusz” mine until the beginning of the 90s. Because of financial problems connected with the systemic transformations, the administration of the mine decided to close the institution. Following this decision, the Municipal Community Centre didn't function for several years. Only in 2004 did the mine administration loan the building for use of the Sosnowiec Commune. In the beginning the Community Centre functioned as a branch of the „Maczki” Municipal Club. In 2006 Sosnowiec councillors decided to establish an independent entity under the name „Kazimierz” Municipal Community Centre. The new institution was opened on the first of June 2006.

During that time, the Community Centre has hosted several events and concerts. The chess and bridge championships attracted many enthusiasts. Several bands, such as Konopians, Falcon Band or Natural Mystic have performed on the stage. The children can participate in guitar and keyboard lessons as well as art workshops. The institution is the seat of five rock bands, which practice and prepare here for concerts. The „Kazimierz” Municipal Community Centre also houses the „Dragon” Sports Club, which organizes ju-jitsu, self-defence and aerobics classes for children and adults. Teenagers can also attend table tennis classes
